Some weddings are beautiful because every every place setting is square and every chair is set exactly ten inches from the table. Others are beautiful because they feel completely and unmistakably like a love story.

Madeline and Scott’s Indianapolis wedding was the latter.

Set at the historic James Whitcomb Riley Museum Home in Lockerbie Square, their wedding day was colorful, joyful, and full of personal details. From vibrant summer flowers to a packed dance floor, it felt less like a production and more like an incredible celebration with the people they love most. For Madeline and Scott, the historic setting provided the perfect backdrop for a wedding that felt both classic and playful.

The James Whitcomb Riley Museum Home is a hidden gem among wedding venues in Indianapolis. Its historic architecture, mature gardens, and intimate setting create a beautiful backdrop for both large and small celebrations alike. Madeline and Scott embraced this setting with colorful garden-inspired floral designs from Flower Boys on their tables, in their bouquet and boutonniere, and on their custom built chuppah.

The real magic of this wedding was how personal it felt. The couple incorporated meaningful Jewish wedding traditions, including their ketubah signing, while still honoring their own modern lives. From the moment the celebration got going, it was obvious that their friends and family had come ready to party. There was dancing, laughter, so much joy, and an enthusiastic round of Hava Nagila as guests lifted the bride and groom into the air on chairs.

What I loved most about being part of Madeline and Scott’s wedding was how much their love story shaped the celebration. Their wedding wasn’t simply beautiful, it was personal. The traditions they chose and the energy of the day felt connected to who they are as a couple and the experiences that brought them to such a meaningful moment. That’s one of my favorite parts of being a wedding planner: getting to know the story behind the couple and then helping translate that story into a wedding day that feels genuinely, unmistakably theirs.
